The Last Supper depicts Jesus and his twelve disciples at Jesus' last Passover. The COA lists Luke 22:14-15 and Matthew 26:26-28 which describe Jesus offering his disciples bread as his body and wine as his blood, symbolizing the first covenant of the Passover Lamb.
The reverse features an adaptation of Gustav Dore's 1865 engraving by sculptor D'Almeida Novissimo. As with all of Dore's work, the atmosphere is dark and brooding.
